Thanksgiving Table

OK, so you're probably thinking, where the heck did they go? And now they come back with Thanksgiving? Well we've had a such a blessed year and we're excited to actually be home to give thanks for it. Melody woke up this morning and got so excited for Thanksgiving that she went ahead and decorated her table early. It's always nice to find things around your property that could be used...grasses...berries etc. (I don't even know what these berries are?) We hope your thanksgiving is filled with utter joy. We're not really sure what is going to happen with the blog this next year, but we'll figure it out. Thanks for being such great followers regardless!  With much love, Desi and Mel.

Nicole Warne - MBFWA

We couldn't resist yet another Australian Fashion week look. (Like her dress? You can buy it here.) Meet Nicole Warne, also known as the Gary Pepper Girl. She started into this fashion business by creating her own vintage shop called Gary Pepper Vintage. But little did she know that she would start getting even more attention as a blogger and fashionista. Vogue has taken multiple shots of her as well as myriads of other media outlets. Why? Because this girl has some style. What sets her apart from so many other street style fashionistas? She has a sense of clean and classy style, but isn't afraid to mix it up a bit. We have seen her looks pop up before, but are finally glad to know who she is! And the best part? So many of her looks are more covered, which is pretty cool for us. Jessica Stein - Blog Highlight

Australian Fashion Week just took place and we have to admit, we had never heard of Jessica Stein before. That is until now. This look of hers made it onto Vogue's street style looks, but we noticed something...Vogue failed to mention what brand the dress was, yet mentioned her glasses, shoes etc. Why? because surprisingly, this dress is from Asos (here)! And we love the look. It just goes to show that places like Asos and other cheaper brands deserve to have a place in the world of serious style and be mixed in with other pieces. It's nice to finally see one getting some attention. Definitely check Jessica out and her blog Tuula Vintage. We are definitely new lovers of her.

Eclectic Mix - Street Style

In preparation for some spring and summer street style, we are giving you some of the last of our shots from September's Spring fashion week. We thought this was an interesting mix. Definitely eclectic. Although we wouldn't think to wear something like this, we do see how one person's style can be totally different than another.;She also looks like a Jennifer Aniston look-alike. Don't you think?

Happy Spring everyone! This was taken from yesterday's festivities. We feel this is kind of the essence of the holiday (although in a very secular sense). Funny enough, we didn't take any outfit posts. Just took a much needed break (the music side of our lives is killing us off slowly).  Hopefully your day was as warm and sunny as ours! (oh and why don't they make this little DKNY dress in our size?)

Love the simplicity, but toughness, of the black and grey. We would venture to guess that she is wearing an oversized grey sweatshirt under there. We could be wrong, but that's what we're thinking. And if so, than that makes this outfit pretty dang easy to take on....

Casual Cool - NYFW Street Style Fall '13

Here's a cool way of dressing up a pretty casual look. Don't think we would ever think to put more of a sweat pant with heels, but hey! It's fashion week! Almost anything goes! We have to say our all time favorite baseball-hatted look from NYFW is from NYMag's collection of photos here. Laurel Pantin is super awesome....

Street Style - Fashion Week Fall '13

Thanks to our extra eyes in NYC we are able to have street style pictures directly from the Fall '13 Fashion week even though we're on tour. We've been seeing some things very loosely in common from the fall collections and that is A LOT of black. Edgy black leather, mixed with big fur trim and pops of bright, almost neon, geomtetric color seem to be coming on strong (example here from Creatures of the Wind). We love her look here since it's the toned down version of things we're seeing on the runway. Although the leaders in the design world are still yet to show (think Marc Jacobs) we'll keep you up to date with what we're seeing hot off the press! Happy Fashion week!

Yeah. Let's just say they're pretty cool. There's Poppy up top and Cara down below. So Melody posted a pic on instagram of her incredibly ripped jeans and how it's time to retire them. And then she sees this picture of Poppy and now she's unsure. Should she keep the jeans? 

FASHION ADVICE - The Vince Camuto Boot

We were both asked from a friend the other day about a pair of Vince Camuto boots she had bought but had no idea how to style (found here). We thought for a bit and realized that they were a bit difficult to style. On top of it, she specifically said she didn't want to look like "a cougar." After this statement we had a break through. We thought, "think Zina," or Urban Outfitters. A "cougar" (lol) would pair those boots with bedazzled jeans and big flashy jewelry (think housewives of orange county). Zina and Urban Outfitters would pair them with skinny jeans and more boho pieces like the images above (Zina is bottom right, all the rest are Urban Outfitters).

So we're thinking of having fashion advice be a more regular segment on this site. What do you guys think? THE PERFECT HOLIDAY SHOE

Lovely ladies! You know how we posted about the absolutely gorgeous Valentino studded pumps here? We had such issues trying to find a shoe on the less expensive end to post about. But today we're looking at miss Sasha's blog, and we're thinking, 'hey! those look so similar to the Valentino pump!' But to our dismay they are sold out everywhere online. EXCEPT Amazon. Lovely ladies, if you want the perfect holiday shoe, the Valentino pump is it. But if you want the same look for a fraction of the cost, this shoe is the one.

BULKY SWEATER INSPIRATION

We have no idea where this image came from (dang it pinterest!), but we fell in love with the look. We will definitely try pairing our bulky sweaters with more beautiful summer/spring scarves. We love the combo, especially with the warmer colored bag. Very chic....

STREET STYLE - Subtle leopard with leather

This lady knows how to dress for her age. Who says you have to dress matronly when you've reached a certain time in life? She knows how to spruce up her wardrobe without looking like she's trying to be 20. We loved the subtle leopard print (it doesn't scream I'M LEOPARD) with the little leather jacket. We say way to go. We all could take some cues.

VALENTINO RED

Need ideas for holiday wear? Here's a lovely lady we found on the street (evidently we weren't the only ones noticing her look...[NY Mag did too here]). We've been eyeing the fabulous Valentino studded pumps for a while and when we saw her sporting them, they were oh so beautiful to behold in real life (you can buy those lovely things here, if you're ready to pay a bit for them)  Want a similar look for cheaper? Check out this dress here; pair with some shoes like this plus a leopard clutch, and you're ready to step into the holidays!

BABY SHOWER

Since Desirae is getting ready to have her little girl in the "big apple" we decided her shower would be based around "baby in the big apple." We wish you could've seen Desirae's whole outfit better, but we'll just have to show you what she was wearing later. Also we're absolutely loving our friend Liz in the bird sweater near the bottom. VERY cool. Hope you enjoy a little peek into our lives this week!
