EMMY HIGHLIGHT

OK so we kinda like this dress. We saw it on the Christian Dior Couture runway for the Fall collection, but couldn't include it here because the top was so sheer. But now Julianne Moore has taken it on and we're excited we can post about it. The nice thing about this dress is that most that are more covered in front and have long sleeves like this are usually completely backless. This however covers all around, which is pretty unheard of in the design world (one of the rules of thumb is if you're covered in one area, you're uncovered in another). But we have to admit we don't think it photographed as well as it looked as she moved in it on stage. Are we off of our rockers in liking it? What do you guys think?

FALL TRANSITION

Here's a great fall transition outfit. We love the plaid boucle skirt with the striped t-shirt. Throw on a motorcycle jacket (like she has in her arms) and some heels and that's quite the killer outfit.

OUR TAKE ON ROCHAS RESORT 2013

You saw us post about Rochas Resort and now you get to see how the final dress (here) was obviously a direct inspiration to this look of ours. We loved the cream t-shirt under the black that we couldn't wait to recreate it ourselves. Although we think this works best with strapless dresses, we created our look with a black tube top, black full skirt and cream t-shirt (if you're using a tube top, like we did, make sure whatever is on bottom matches the top so it looks like one complete dress). So many modest dressers pair their tank tops and spaghetti strap dresses with t-shirts underneath, and we have to admit we don't really love the look. But somehow we think the strapless dress with the t-shirt works well (we also LOVE using sweetheart necklines). We've seen it done multiple places over the last few seasons with dresses similar to Rochas. We'll give you an example with this dress from Temperley London. You can totally recreate the idea with this awesome peplum dress paired with this ivory t-shirt. Think of the possibilities! Here are the specifics of our look: J. Crew belt, Tiffany chain bracelet,  H&M skirt (older), Shade tee, Michael Kors shoes, and Aldo bag.

PACKING

Melody is on her way to NYC and whilst in the midst of packing, remembered her friend (you know who you are :) tell her that she should do a post on how to pack. Although I'm packing a bit more on this trip (3 weeks is a while to be out) I noticed as I was almost done that I was following my own advice..."everything HAS to go with everything." I gave myself a little more time to prepare for this one since I'm away for so long. But you'll see in a post soon how badly I did packing for a trip to Moab last week and I was not going to let that happen again. Yep, we don't always get it right. But this time around I hope I did well, because that's a long time to be out with a poorly planned wardrobe.

Lastly, I didn't realize that I was going for a military green, navy, white, grey and maroon combo here (yes, the pic quality is not great, but those are the colors). I ended up with 3 pairs of pants (this is a little over kill, I can get away with two) one pair of shorts (didn't need them, but wanted to bring), one skirt, 1 tiny wispy dress (perfect for travel and dressier occasions) 7 tops (overkill, I've gotten away with 5 for 2 week trips, but I'm hoping to shoot some blog while I'm away...plus this is 3 weeks), 1 small sweater, 1 jacket, 1 pair of heels, 1 flat sandal and 1 pair of closed toe flats (come rain or shine I hope I'm ready!). Seems like a lot, but it all fits in my carry-on sized luggage (eh hem...it might not be able to be brought carry-on since it's extended, but oh well.) I'll let you know how I did by the end of it all....

BLACK, WHITE AND GOLD - NYFW SS13

Such a cute dress. Such cute shoes. We never thought pairing all black, white and gold together could be so appealing! (By the way, that necklace is pretty dang cool.)
