MODEST LOOKBOOK - Anthropologie

We love this dress. Melody wish she could splurge and have it for her trip this weekend to Mexico. It would be the perfect resort dress.  Oh well, we can't (and really shouldn't) have everything we want. Plus we may hate the thing in a few years. Best to stay classic when the price goes up....

HAIR

OK guys. Melody's going to do it. It's not a terribly drastic change, but it's still a change. She's cutting some locks before she takes off to Mexico next week. It will be the cut of Alexa Chung up top, with the length of Rose Byrne down below. If anyone thinks she shouldn't do it, speak now or forever hold your peace....

SARAH FROM "WELCOME TO THE GOOD LIFE"

We ran into Sarah from Welcome to the Good life at Tiffany last week and didn't she look so cute? We are in love with her Tahari dress from Macy's (lovely Sarah sent us a link to where you can buy it here).  We didn't realize it when we first met her, but we were already familiar with her blog. One of her DIY puffy sleeve post images showed up on Pinterest and we were so intrigued that we spent a while trying to find out where it came from (Man! Pinterest makes it so hard to trace image sources). To make a long story short, let's just say we finally found her, and ever since we've been hooked (you should check out her recent post on dying your own mint-colored jeans here).  Anyway, she's quite creative, (besides being beautiful) and we were glad we got to meet her.
Lastly... do you notice the color of her finger nails? Man, we wish we had a close up on them. Yes, we're pretty sure that's Tiffany blue there. And we must admit, it's very fitting....

WHAT WE WORE - TIffany Mother's Day Event

Since Desirae lives in New York now, our sister Deondra joined us for the Tiffany event this week (seen below). Here's what she wore (which we loved). We've been telling you guys to keep a look out for Chanel-looking jackets as of late (here and here to show a couple), but we must admit we found this one on a thrifting trip. You also might have seen us tweet about a black boucle jacket we found? Well this is it (if you look through our tweets you might have seen the price of this here jacket[!]). Anyway, we were a bit jealous that Deondra  ended up with it, but happy that she had a great piece to add to her collection. Anyway, she paired it with a H&M tee, H&M cobalt belt, Forever 21 Jeans, Forever 21 Chanel-inspired bag (sadly only the chain is seen here) and Target sandals. We say she's one hot mama!

TIFFANY'S MOTHER'S DAY EVENT

The Store
The Refreshments
The Mother and Daughter
The Donning of Jewelry
The Schlumberger Ring
Learning about Schlumberger
Amazing Paloma's Zellige Ring
The Necklace of Choice - Double Schlumberger Egg (plus Tiffany Key)
The Sunglasses (also Tiffany Key and Victoria Necklace)
The perks of our day job...
And don't forget the box!

So we know this has really nothing to do with modesty, and we rarely post about the specifics of jewelry, but when we're invited to an event, we love to fill you in. So here is our coverage of an event Tiffany held this week celebrating mothers day. The invite shared their thoughts... "Tiffany is celebrating mothers and daughters and the special tradition of little girls dressing up to be like their moms." Since Desirae couldn't make it, we thought our sister Deondra and her little girl Adrienne would fit the invite pretty well. Right after Deondra had little Adrienne, she realized she never really liked the color pink and didn't have much patience for the sometimes froofy things little girls wear. So rather, Adrienne wears T-shirts from places like Lucky (pictured), much like her mother. We figured this did sort of fit in with Tiffany's invite. And really, we think the way mothers like to dress their daughters, tends to influence them later in wanting to dress like their mothers (Vogue seems to agree here). (Oh and in case you're wondering, we come from a fairly long line of stylish women so this is definitely the case. It says something when people think your grandmother is more stylish than you.) In any case, these two fit the invite.
The brand new store at City Creek is absolutely beautiful, and it was amazing to go in and try on anything and everything in the store. That goes for little Adrienne too! They were decking her out! We learned about Jean Michel Schlumberger and his amazing Tiffany designs. Never thought we'd get an education in jewelry while there! The stories behind them are pretty cool, including the enamel and gold bangles that eventually got the nickname the "Jackie Bracelet" (since Jackie Kennedy wore them all of the time). Oh and you might recognize this design of his, the famous "Bird on a Rock" - the highlight of the New York Tiffany store (being over 128 carats!).
So all in all, it was a fun morning. Oh! And you might be wondering about the Tiffany chain little Adrienne is wearing? That bracelet was given to Adrienne's mom as a gift from a fabulous patron to the arts. (Yes, sometimes we have perks to our day job.)
Lastly, with mother's day being this weekend, don't rule Tiffany out! If you're just dying to spoil your mother, they've got some great pieces. We know we've only received the blue box a couple of times in our lives, and something about it just gets a person excited....

ZINA FROM FASHION VIBE - Blog Highlight

So we've been watching Zina from Spain for a while now (at her blog Fashionvibe-blog.blogspot.com), and we had to show you all what she's been up to. We know we can't show you everything from her blog because it's all amazing, but we can show you some of her most recent looks. What we love about her style is her perfect blend of class and edge. She can't really be labelled to have a specific style, like "preppy," or "rocker," or "traditional," because really she's all of those. So keep up the awesome styling Zina, and you, like us should keep an eye out for her....

WHAT WE WORE - Clinton Kelly at Macy's City Creek

Since Desirae couldn't be there this past Saturday, we had Alison (Melody's sis-in-law) fill in in her absence. And would you ever believe that this girl has 3 kids? Yeah, tell us about it. And look how effortlessly cool she is. By the way, I would've been tempted to put heels with this look, but she definitely doesn't need them... she's 5'9" without them.  I had to wear heels just to keep up with her! Man, sometimes it's hard being a part of an extended family where all of the girls are almost 6'....

Here are some extremely classy gowns we found while browsing Neiman Marcus online (with the exception of a few looks from Bloomingdales). We were happy to find so many options ready to buy, where in years past we'd be lucky if there were one or two that were a bit more covered. OK, so you're going to hate us, but for some reason the top red chiffon dress was on Neiman Marcus while we were creating this post and was listed on sale for $124. One of us was soooo tempted to buy it! But then when we finished, it was gone! We wonder if it sold out so fast that they took it off.  Anyway we still included it since deals pop up everywhere when you'd least expect, and when they do, it doesn't matter if you have nothing to wear it to in the moment, you'll want it in a pinch when you need it and can't find anything. Sadly, we've learned that the hard way. There are some things (notably a Zara dress) we wish we hadn't passed up since we're always looking for things to wear on stage. Also there are plenty of cocktail dresses that have a bit more coverage up right now. Seriously ladies, if you're looking to find a dress for the holidays or weddings or anything, we would say you should keep an eye on the formal wear at Neiman's right now.
Lastly, some may wonder why we even care about trying to find dresses that cover or fall under the category of "modest". It may seem 'holier than thou' to some. But truly, when your beliefs have a part in dictating what you wear, you, like us, are very relieved to see and find that you don't have to make a shrug or tailor sleeves onto a dress to adhere to that standard. You're relieved that a dress exists that you can just wear - no sweaters, no jackets, no shrugs, no sewn in panels; just a nice high-fashion looking dress. And believe us, that's important.
