MARCHESA RESORT 2013

So we're definitely having a dressy monday. We have to say that we're pretty glad that all types of sleeves are the rage at the moment. These looks are ultra fab. Georgina Chapman over at Marchesa sure knows how to make a great dress! We wonder which Hollywood A-listers will sport them on the red carpet soon. Until then, enjoy!

MODEST LOOKBOOK - Marion Cotillard for Vogue

What can we say? Isn't this picture just beautiful? We both absolutely love Marion Cotillard and this picture just seems to sum up our feelings towards her.  The whole look is amazing - the coat especially (it's Burberry Prosum [of course] shown in deep purple here). But pay close attention to the shoes, since we may have just picked some up similarly. It's funny that when it's so hot outside we tend to think about cooler weather clothing, like coats. But don't get us wrong, we're not ready for summer to be over quite yet.  It's just nice to think about how cool a blue quilted velvet coat would be....

PARTY OUTFIT - Sequin top and jeans

Sequins don't seem to be going anywhere (as you can see from Elie Saab's fall line here). Surprisingly, we've seen these little shiny guys around for quite a few seasons now. We guess the fashion world figures there's no better way to dress up for going out than by throwing on a bit of shine! Here are some celebrity outfits that show you similar looks to ours here and here. Sequins obviously don't need much to make an outfit glitzy so don't go crazy with accessories. A good shoe and bag are all you need. We've been hoping for a good top like this for a while and finally rejoiced when we saw this one at H&M recently. We love that it can be paired with so many basic pant and skirt options going into fall. We think it will look pretty chic to wear under a dark blazer. Actually come to think of it, we may just take this exact outfit and put a blazer over it when it gets cooler. Easy autumn transition. But then again, we can't think of blazers right now! It's so hot all over the country! So for now, take some inspiration and go out and party tomorrow.

KATY PERRY IN DOLCE & GABBANA

We are absolutely loving this dress! Isn't it beautiful? Katy Perry was all dressed up for the Rio premiere of her movie "Part of Me" last week where she donned this amazing lace dress. Actually we're excited to eventually show you some of the Dolce and Gabbana Fall collection since beautiful lace concoctions were a main part of the designs. Until then, here's a little taste of the lace.

MANGO FALL LOOKBOOK

 

 

We are loving these looks from Mango! We haven't usually been big fans of this brand, but these looks are changing our minds since the collection definitely reminds us of the edginess of Kate Lanphear. We are especially loving the length of the blazers. Aside from this, and although it's hard to choose, one of our favorite outfits is the chanel-looking jacket paired with the black sateen pants and lettered loose t-shirt. Do you guys have any favorites? Because we're also loving the leather and lace combo. You may find some of the looks recreated on these pages since we're definitely inspired....

A DAY ON THE ROAD

A day in the life of a musician can get kind of crazy. This outfit served many purposes the day it was worn. First, it was hot outside. Second, Melody had to be dressed for a Q&A for around 200 people, then she needed to be comfortable for a longer rehearsal that took up a bigger portion of the afternoon before changing into concert attire for the stage at night. We even had time to squeeze in this picture! (which, by the way, was taken by the stage door after a quick lunch.) This outfit definitely met the needs of our musician life that day. It was the seeming perfect combo of a bit of rocker while keeping it casual and hopefully classy. Roxy tee, vintage skirt, Kennicott quartz necklace, Forever 21 cuff and metallic sandals.
