FUR, WOOL AND SEQUINS

Funny, we had already put this look together when, flipping through our favorite fashion magazine, a nearly look-alike outfit stared back at us from the glossy pages. It seems Banana Republic and we Thread Ethic girls had a similar idea for a holiday look. The more the merrier, right? Party time! We designed the sequin dress, but the coat is Halogen, faux fur collar H&M, and heels Aldo.

LITTLE BLACK LACE DRESS

There was so much beautiful lace on the fall runways that we felt that the holiday season would not be complete without some lace on this blog. Seriously, you can see lace here at Marc Jacobs, Elie Tahari, and Elle magazine, to name a few. Sometimes the "little black dress" gets a bad wrap at party time for being a bit somber, so we'd like to make the case for the "little black lace dress". Lace is elegant yet tastefully extravagant (if there's such a thing) - you definitely know it is reserved for an evening out. Be warned though, black lace brings attention in a way that really nothing else can. Get ready to stop traffic in your LBLD. Dress vintage, heels Steve Madden.

CELEBRITY HOLIDAY LOOKS

Zoe Saldana in Elie Tahari

Emma Stone in Chanel

Nicole Richie in Stella McCartney

Andrea Riseborough in Andrew Gn

Claire Danes in Valentino

Even Rachel Wood in Preen

Angelina Jolie in Ralph Lauren

Rachel Zoe in Valentino

We love it when celebrities step out for their holiday parties and events. Here we've picked a handfull of looks that we fell in love with. It's so hard to choose which is our personal favorite though. We love the Elie Tahari green that Zoe is wearing up top, but also love the black satin Ralph Lauren that Angelina donned near the bottom. Which is your favorite?

TEAL HOLIDAY

Time for holiday dressing! If you know us by now then you know that we adore vintage dresses for evening. The vintage dress shown here appealed to us because of the gorgeous silver-y teal color. The shade felt like a lovely alternative to the typical holiday colors. Gold and all things shimmery are hot for holiday fashion so we accessorized with a gold necklace and belt, and finished the look with leopard heels. It's party time!

SIMPLE

Wondering how to look chic without feeling incredibly dressy? If you use the right pieces sometimes 'simple' can still have high impact. Here I'm wearing my favorite waxed skinny trousers from Zara, thrifted corduroy blazer, Forever 21 blouse and scarf and Aldo heels.

EBAY FUR

Last winter we fell in love with the looks all over the street style blogs during Paris fashion week. Fur seemed to be such a great accessory and so incredibly practical when you're trying to keep warm in such cold weather. I had been on the look out for a coat similar to those I had seen, but gave up as the warm weather set in. But then I found it...it was the first time I had ever shopped so incredibly out of season. I bought my ebay vintage fur coat in very late spring for $30. It came and I was kind of disappointed because my mind was definitely on to spring and summer. So I packed it away and thought maybe I'd get rid of it come Fall. Well let's just suffice to say that I'm so glad I didn't get rid of it! This particular coat is made from sheep fur and is so incredibly warm.We saw many similar looks all over the Michael Kors runway this season here, here and here. Also Fendi and Gucci showcased the shorter length fur jackets everywhere. We're excited to use ours in a monochromatic way like they have.  You'll definitely be seeing more of this coat later.

METALLIC PAIRING

We are loving the juxtaposition of evening wear with something a bit more casual over top. Pairing metallics with a rougher coat has just the right touch of glitz but cool. Tis the season of glamour so watch out for some looks of our own coming up! Until then enjoy Style.com's pairings here (under parka city).

AUTUMN NAUTICAL

We know nautical stripes seem perfectly natural in the warm months, but what about when the weather turns colder? We think the nautical theme still works in the winter months when paired with a camel colored coat and red belt. We also think a navy blazer would also look chic when trying to brace your favorite striped tee against the cold. Here, Zara coat, Target belt, and H&M striped long sleeved tee.
