We love awards season! Yes, we are film buffs and it's fun to see which films and actors are awarded but, seriously people, it is so much fun to watch the red carpet fashion! Here are some of our favorite, modest gowns of the night. From top to bottom: Michelle Williams in Jason Wu, Diane Lane in Reem Acra, Kelly Osbourne (though we aren't endorsing the hair...) in Zac Posen, Nayla Rivera in Vera Wang (thank you, Cristina, for the designer tip!), and Jessica Biel in Elie Saab. Which would you wear?

THE GRANNY PLAID SCARF

Dressing in the winter months for us is all about layers. On those winter days that aren't quite as cold as all the others, why not ditch the coat and layer up a heavy sweater and scarf combo? And who says you can't wear your bootie heels and chain bag with outdoorsy/granny plaid? Not us! (Check out the granny plaid trend here.) We love mixing dressy and casual pieces for an eclectic mix. Our hint for picking the perfect scarf: the bigger, fatter and longer the scarf, the more delux and high end it looks. Double and triple wrap it and you'll feel super cozy. Scarf Nordstrom, sweater Urban Outfitters, top Zara, jeans Forever 21, boots Marco Santi.

MIRANDA KERR

Want to look stylish but hate pulling out all the bells and whistles of a perfectly coordinated and complicated outfit? Then just look to model Miranda Kerr for simple, on trend looks that require relatively few pieces. In fact, most of us probably own most of the pieces Miranda is sporting in these looks (leather trousers aside). So, in a rush or running out the door and feel like there is no time for style? Think again. Next time I'm short on time and drawing a fashion blank I'll pull up these pics and do a little fashion copy catting.

COMFY COMBO

We can't get enough of our cable knit sweaters and buttoned up collars. The combo has become one of our winter uniforms. The buttoned up collar will have major staying power going into spring. Designers like Louis Vuitton, Celine, Proenza Shouler, and Chloe worked the buttoned up look on the spring runways. Just remember, to get the look right keep the collar small. Think: 1960's tiny collars, and if you have to ask yourself if the collar you're experimenting with is small enough, it probably isn't!

JACKET WEATHER

We can't speak for the rest of the country, but we've been having abnormally warm weather here.  So much so, that it feels almost like spring has sprung. Hence, the white chanel-inspired jacket has emerged. We recently found this jacket thrifting and couldn't wait to don it here. We decided to go with a sort of 70s Chanel look (think Faye Dunaway, Jackie O, and Bianca Jaggar), but roughened it up with a grey boyfriend jean and ankle boots. Karl Lagerfeld chose to roughen up his house's staple Chanel jacket in his fall 2011 line here, and Tory Burch paired her fall tie-neck blouses with chanel-ish jackets here. If you ever see one of these around, we would suggest you nab it. These jackets haven't gone anywhere since Coco unveiled them. We can't wait for spring to really come. Then we'll really have some fun with it.

NEW YEARS GREEN

I've always had a terrible, terrible weakness for green. Its the color I always said was my favorite as a kid. This New Years I actually had a quiet night with family at home but if I had gone to a fabulous party, this is what I would have worn. I believe it's always good to have a party dress on hand, you never know when an occasion might sneak up on you! (Or when you might feel up for actually going out for an occasion.) Here's to 2012 and many more parties to come!
