EASTER SUNDAY ATTIRE

Easter sunday was beautiful in this part of the country.  When I woke up that morning to get dressed, I definitely wanted to match the feeling in the air. Our streets have been lined with white blossoms for the past week and definitely serve as adequate inspiration for everything beautiful. Blossoms were centerpieces on our Easter table, the smell of them filled the breeze, and petals floated over the long awaited new grass. Finally, with all that said, my sunday wardrobe choice consisted of cream, nudes and greys. Funny enough, I realized after the fact that my blouse actually sort of looks like petals!
So there you have it. I let others showcase the color on sunday. I just felt, well... clean. (Diane von Furstenburg blouse, Victoria's Secret cream pencil skirt, J. Crew Belt and Nine West pewter platforms)

MODEST LOOKBOOK - Jil Sander paint print dress

Amazing

I was tie-dying easter eggs (yes 'tie-dying') the other night with family when I kept thinking about this dress I had seen from Jil Sander's 2011 Spring collection.  Although from last year, we absolutely loved this photo and had to share (featuring model Frida Gustavsson for a Swedish magazine called DV Mode). Along with this look was another (although strapless) I kept thinking about from Monique Lhuillier's Spring 2012 collection. But really we loved the Jil Sander dress pictured since it was such a fresh take on color over an almost white 'canvas' (my equivalent to dye over the white of eggs).
By the way, we didn't think to show you what we were wearing for Easter sunday! But let's suffice to say that when I was getting dressed yesterday morning I knew there would be a flood of pastel, floral and bright colors I'd encounter through the day. So I opted for something different. We'll try and show you tomorrow. But really I'm glad I didn't think to stop and take a picture. The day truly deserves other thoughts beyond our obsession with the forever hyped "Easter Sunday attire". All in all, it was a gloriously beautiful Sunday. We hope yours was the similar!

The top picture, the beautiful dress from J. Mendel, although from the 2011 resort collection inspired us so much the other day that we realized we should fill you in on a little secret for spring 2012. In case you haven't noticed, it's the fact that orange was seen EVERYWHERE. And if you're unsure about the color, just know that it was seen all over the Fall 2012 runways as well (we'll show you come fall). Orange is not going anywhere. Although we've seen all shades from tangerine to almost tomato red, we know designers were definitely on a similar wave length this year.  So why not pick up a top in the color? Or maybe a fun dress or bathing suit? One of us picked up a vintage top that we can't wait to show you. We also have a look coming where the color is paired with pale blue. And really we're glad to use this dress again. So what are you guys thinking of the color?

STRIPES AND BRIGHTS

On the subject of color, you'll definitely see many more pieces we've been using lately on these pages. As far as this look goes, we think stripes with your brights is the perfect combination. We're afraid it might even become our spring and summer uniform (our stripe tees already have turned into a casual wear must for us). So why not mix a bit of nautical in with you your color? The nautical look isn't going anywhere. Alexa Chung's look from a couple of years ago is an testament to this. So let's make it fresh! Stripes and brights!

MIRANDA KERR - Fashion month looks

We know we're getting further and further from fashion month, but we wanted you guys to see how great Miranda is at putting effortless-looking outfits together. Every outfit worn as a model off duty around the month of fashion weeks was amazing. The Marni coat she's sporting in the images up top is great; the Dries van Noten jacket (middle) is just cool; and the whole look she wore before the Mui-Mui show (bottom) was chic and completely wearable. We really love her edgy yet laid back style.

BRIGHT COLORS WITH DENIM

As you saw in yesterday's post, we happen to like pairing our brights with things that tone them down a bit (think neutrals). Therefore, denim is becoming our best friend. It has a great way of toning our brights down a notch so you don't feel like a rainbow once you step out the door. But with all the bright colors everywhere, we started to wonder where they came from and why they've taken off. In searching we actually found the culprit being the 2012 Resort collections. Look at these - Bottega VenetaChanel, Peter SomFendi, and Gucci (1) (and 2) are just a few of the stand outs. So we don't know about you, but when we think "resort," we think of exotic places with lots of color and flavor (entirely different than the typical spring pastels). So go ahead and add an exotic flare to your life by implementing color this spring and summer. You'd be surprised how happy it makes you.

HOW TO PAIR BRIGHTS - DSquared Resort 2012

Have you wondered what to pair this season's brightest brights with? We thought these images were some great food for thought/inspiration since they are all pretty wearable options. The last picture is thrown in since one of us keeps convincing the other not to buy khaki trousers, being very prejudiced against everything khaki. Yes, khaki can be done very poorly, but even Lanvin showed such a cool look this Resort season.  So although we don't support the onslaught of boring summer khaki, watch out...one of us might break down and buy some wide-leg khaki trousers....
