This is a bit of a departure for Melody... a tunic. We don't think she has ever worn a tunic on these pages (please correct us if they are we are wrong). But why not? We've made note of wearing longer tops with jackets, creating layering effects, and a tunic is the perfect way to do this. We really think tunic's work best with skinnies on bottom. Pairing tunics with bootleg jeans just makes the look feel heavy. Freshen it up with a nice blazer and we say you've got the layering basics down! Tunic: Target, blazer: Zara, jeans: Urban Outfitters, boots: Nordstrom

Vogue has coined the terminology and we agree: there were many Hitchcock-esque sirens roaming the runways this past month for the Fall collections. You can just imagine Grace Kelly, Kim Novak and Tippi Hedron donning many of these looks. Although we had our fair share of edgier looks (think leather, collage looking prints and strong black), we did have many that chose to go with this sixties Hitchcock look. Mr. Jacobs for Louis Vuittton even decided to take it a step further with a boudoir sixties slouchiness. Celine decided to go with a very clean streamlined approach to the look (both of which we'll show soon). So all in all, if you wanna go with the vintage look...like so, we advise NOT to go fully retro. DO put an interesting heel or flat with it. DON'T put the typical 40's looking peep toe, platform pump with it. Make it new and modern. DO put an over-sized, even patterned (think flannel, tween or plaid) coat with it. DO consider a statement earring or necklace...DON'T go with the typical pearls.
All of these look more fresh and modern by what and how things are paired with them. So be brave to break the retro mold!

Tweed Midi with Denim
Since it's that fickle spring weather where it switches from warm to cold within hours, this was definitely a look that was for the colder end. Desirae thought about pairing the look with bare legs, but since this is how she's been wearing it in cold NYC she decided not to mess with the warmth the boots provide. We saw plenty of tweed and flannel midi-length skirts on Dolce and Gabbana and Prada's runway for fall. So it's safe to say that this length of textile is going strong. Although this skirt here is pencil cut, it's a pretty good price for being designer. On a side note, are you guys interested in an awesome long pencil in blue boucle? Asos has it. You'll be stylin' since bigger sweaters with slim or straight skirts are coming on as a pretty legit trend.

The Comfy Outfit (and Shabby Apple giveaway winner)
Here is one of the outfits Melody wore to rehearse all day in this past week. These were long, stressful days, and this outfit cut it. Boyfriend jeans, black flats, loose white tee and Zara elbow patch blazer. Yep this one got the job done.
And finally, the $35 Shabby Apple gift certificate giveaway winner is Kim Carey! Kim, go ahead and send us an email and we'll get you the certificate! Thanks all who entered!
