Loving these Zara looks of late. These images are lovely inspiration for how to look laid back and a bit edgy without sacrificing elegance. I have been wearing my button-up blouses with moto jackets for the last few months, and have been liking the look, but hadn't thought to wear a pencil skirt with the combo, as in the first image. So pretty. Also, I saw the ombre gown in person and it is really gorgeous. You could absolutely dress this full length gown up or down. You could wear it with a beaded belt and go very formal, or you could wear it in a more casual way as a maxi dress. Totally fab. Oh, and Zara is having a 50% off sale online today for Black Friday....so maybe you should think about doing some holiday shopping early...

RELAXED
Yes, the baggy trouser. We have quite the penchant for the chic, yet totally comfortable pant. Throw a baggy T and your favorite jacket on and you're ready to go. Laid back, casual, but with the perfect edge of tailored crispness. Break out of your jeans and baggy T uniform and try the relaxed trouser and T alternative. Also, red is quite the color for this fall/winter season and will instantly bring interest to neutral fall basics.

BOWS
We are often inspired by Chanel - Chanel old, Chanel new - it's all gorgeous and we love trying to recreate looks visually inspired by the great fashion house and it's iconic designers. Recently we liked the bows at the the neck on the Fall 2012 Chanel runway. We think the tie-neck look is elegant and posh looking. It also reminds of Rachel Zoe. For those of you who also watch the Rachel Zoe Report you will know what we mean - she is totally Chanel obsessed. We totally sympathize. Shown here, thrifted airline stewardess dress, jacket Nine & Co., heels Chinese Laundry, bag Zara.

SIBLING RIVALRY
Since we here at Thread Ethic are two sisters who love fashion, we thought it very fun that Vogue is featuring stylish sisters on their best dressed list. Here we're showing two of the more modest sets of sisters - Ruby and Lily Aldridge wearing Vintage (Ruby) and Faconnable jacket, Hannible Y shorts and rochas mules (Lily); and Charlotte Gainsburg and Lou Doillon wearing Balenciaga and Balmain respectively. You can see more of these looks at Vogue.com.

THE LAST FLORALS
As florals are briefly making their final appearance around us, we couldn't help but be inspired by their fading beauty. We love the juxtaposition of florals with autumnal textures and colors. On one of the last warm days we decided to pair these Forever 21 heels with the heavier camel ruffles of a skirt so graciously sent to us by the online boutique Kosher Casual (which by the way, if you're needing a pencil skirt that is actually knee length you should check them out). This outfit was definitely inspired by (and maybe viciously copied from) the Spring 2011 DKNY show. In that look you can see how Donna Karen definitely went for more neutrals, but this fall she decided to add some rust into the mix (seen here and here). And so we'll let the florals go and turn our attention to the color palette of fallen leaves and ripened pumpkins.

CHANEL INSPIRED LAYERING
We're mixing some patterns in this look. An easy way to mix patterns and not look like a total mess is to keep all the patterns in the same color family. Here we've used mostly black and white with a bit of navy and gray thrown in. The striped tee is the base for the look with a Chanel type sweater jacket, leopard scarf and snake skin patterned belt layering the look up. We've topped the whole thing off with a cross-body chain handle bag and combat boots. Oh, and a photo of Coco wearing one of her iconic jackets - just to refresh your memory. Striped tee, leopard scarf and bag all Forever 21, sweater jacket H&M, belt Target.
