FUR COLLAR

fur collar

We must warn you, as you saw yesterday with the Derek Lam looks, the fur collar is about to get out of hand on these pages. Melody may be a tiny bit obsessive as of late. We talked about the emergence of the fur collar and "snood" last year, and we're so happy to feature the idea more this year. Wondering where to get something like this? Try here or here. Put on any jacket or coat and you're rockin what MANY fashionistas are at the moment....

OH! And don't forget about the Modest Mara giveaway. Your chances of winning are pretty good, so be sure and enter. The winner will be decided Monday the 15th!

DEREK LAM PRE-FALL 2012

Did we ever show you guys these? They've been our favorite for what seems like so long now (even though they only showed around this time last year). We think they are all super gorgeous. Do you guys have a favorite?

CAMPING AND HIKING WEAR FASHION

Hiking wear

kid's winter wear

About a month ago, Melody, her husband and some family decided to brave the cold and go camping in the mountains. It was 70 degrees in the valley that day which spurred the insanity. Of course in the mountains it was not 70 degrees. At night it was even further from that. So here Melody is the morning after a VERY cold night (to which this little guy up top couldn't take it anymore and had to go home at about 2 a.m.). This is the hair she woke up with, so what you see is what you get. It doesn't look it, but she is wearing 3 layers of thermals under her leggings. Her hiking boots you've heard her talk about before, and have A LOT of wear (they're from REI here). The glasses are a lot of fun and are Quetee (and DEFINITELY hard to find, but perfect for hiking). Never again will we go camping so late in the season, but it was definitely beautiful.

STREET STYLE - Subtle leopard with leather

This lady knows how to dress for her age. Who says you have to dress matronly when you've reached a certain time in life? She knows how to spruce up her wardrobe without looking like she's trying to be 20. We loved the subtle leopard print (it doesn't scream I'M LEOPARD) with the little leather jacket. We say way to go. We all could take some cues.

THE SWING COAT

This particular swing coat is older from Zara but you can get a pretty cool green military inspired one at Topshop right now here.  We're not gonna lie, you may have seen this coat on these pages already. It keeps popping up in different combinations once the colder weather sets in. And since this silhouette isn't going anywhere (the Sartorialist makes note of it here, but with skirts and here's another look), we decided to keep breaking it out. So pardon the repetition!
