T-SHIRT AND PENCIL SKIRT

OK so we told you we were going to try this. Leelee's t-shirt and pencil skirt combo was too good not to try. We feel like you all should experiment with it too. It's definitely effortless. And of course, it leaves room for all kinds of accessories. Who doesn't like that?

BLOG HIGHLIGHT - Hedvig from Northern Light

We've been so impressed with Hedvig (originally from Norway, now residing in London) and her blog Northern Light. She's got a really cool mix of class and edge  and you can probably tell we really admire and appreciate when this is done well. It's funny because we've seen her image pop up plenty of times on blogs like Jak & Jil, but never put it together that she had her own blog! So now we get to view the looks straight from her. Yay! Anyway, she's got some great legs, so things can be a bit short at times, but overall we just love her sense of style. We say you should definitely check her out!

MODEST LOOKBOOK - Anthropologie

We love this dress. Melody wish she could splurge and have it for her trip this weekend to Mexico. It would be the perfect resort dress.  Oh well, we can't (and really shouldn't) have everything we want. Plus we may hate the thing in a few years. Best to stay classic when the price goes up....

So if you're unfamiliar with the CFDA Awards (Council of Fashion Designers of America), Here's a brief synopsis. It's an awards ceremony where fashion designers attend and are praised for their most recent accomplishments. The event took place on Monday and the big winners of the evening were Reed Krakoff for designer of the year and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen for women's wear designers of the year. So in other words, the event is kind of like the academy awards for the Fashion world. And we're happy to present to you the more modest looks of the evening....

BLUE COBALT SHOES

As you saw in this post, we're loving some colorful accessories lately. The J. Crew picture in the last post reminded us so much of these shoes it was kind of crazy. We were together at a target somewhere in the middle of Florida when Desirae bought them. We both kept going back and forth about them and finally she decided that having a good interesting flat sandal like this in the city (with the miles and miles of walking) was a good idea. She also figured it was a good color that would probably go with a lot of things. In the end we both knew it would make any more neutral (and sometimes in our minds 'boring') outfit much more fun. So we're happy to report that now after all of these months she is very happy with her purchase. They are being put to very good use in the city. Sometimes having a friend shopping with you helps. Then again, I think I didn't help her much on this one....

Jubilee Winds Down

Let's just say, it has been a very royal weekend! The royals were out in force to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee (60 years on the throne!). And of course, we had hats galore. It's so strange that we're not a part of the whole hat extravaganza in the States. We're wondering who are the crazy ones...us or them? Regardless, we thought Kate's hats looked great with both of her Alexander McQueen looks. We guess that if a designer like Sarah Burton (who also designed her wedding dress) happens to be working out for you, you might as well keep them! And seriously, isn't it amazing that even the guys get in on the top hat action? Sadly, we couldn't find a good enough picture of Prince William in his.

Wish we could have been there this weekend. It sounds like it was quite the royal party!
