OUR BURBERRY PRORSUM INSPIRED LOOK

What can we say? We told you we've been very inspired by the many looks from this post. Here we are taking after a specific look from Burberry Prorsum's fall runway again. The jacket and fur collar you've seen us sport before but paired with a t-shirt, longer sheath skirt, grey textured tights and black ankle boots you've got a pretty warm dressy/casual look. Melody wore this to a wedding luncheon the other day and thought it a good outfit for wanting to be dressy, but not overly dressy. We think the Burberry owl sweater is much more fun, but the screen tee will totally suffice. 

Zara Military inspiration

This look was very much inspired by Zara's November Lookbook. You can see the look that got to us here. Obviously the Zara coat is amazing, but we'll live with our H&M military jacket. And these are the ripped jeans Melody keeps talking about. Should they be retired? Hmmmm....

Maternity Shift Dress

Here's one of our last Maternity looks for you. Why? Because DESIRAE HAD HER BABY THIS PAST FRIDAY!!! Let's just say she's super excited (and sort of out of it) at the moment. Oh, and Melody has to tell you that the little girl is so beautiful. It makes her very much a gushing aunt. We could go on and on about everything, but we won't kill you with the details. Suffice it to say that all is well.

So, on to the look. This was one of Desirae's go-to dressier maternity looks. And we have to admit that both of us feel very partial to dresses for maternity. We're not gonna lie, skirts just start to look weird since they're either hiked up way high, or pulled down way low. So Desirae stuck to dresses for most of her maternity.  This one just happened to already be in her closet and worked since it was a mod-fit shift dress (want something similar? we are LOVING this one). Ok, so these are the shoes we've been in love with lately. We fell in love because they looked so much like the Fendi shoe we were seeing at the beginning of the season.  And now you can get ours pictured majorly on sale. Quite the steal. We love them. You might also remember us talking about this black and gold shoe all the way back with the look Marion Cotilliard wore? Well now you can also get the beautiful Ralph Lauren heels she wore on sale. We say you should take a look....

NEW YEAR'S SNOWSHOEING

So here's a bit of a lifestyle diversion (since this is not terribly fashion related). Before we say anything, sadly we said goodbye to our camera lens yesterday. We were so sad, that there was almost a burial for the poor buddy. So although we didn't get any high quality pictures while snowshoeing yesterday (you can see some phone pics though if you follow us on instagram), it reminded us of the other times we've gone snowshoeing. First off, you gotta have a workable pair of snowshoes (here are some similar to ours). You gotta also have a pretty good snow boot to put inside those snowshoes (the Ugg Celiste boot worked perfectly for Melody yesterday). And lastly you may wanna bring some binocs. Wonder what Melody was looking at? Yep, those are bald eagles. You never know what you'll see when you snowshoe....

RED PLAID SWEATSHIRT

Yep, this is a men's red buffalo plaid sweatshirt (SUPER comfy and SUPER warm). Melody paired it under her thinner blue plaid H&M coat and topped it off with her fur ear flap hat (where she cannot remember for the life of her where she got it) and Ray Ban glasses.  And there you go! An easier winter go-to outfit for you.

HOLIDAY PARTY MATERNITY

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year you guys! With all the holiday loveliness we forgot about you for a minute. But here's a taste of what Desirae will be wearing on New Year's Eve (well if she feels up for it). We thought this was a great balance of sweet, with the lace, and edgy, with the leather. And ultimately it reminds us of this dress from Zara that we both about died over. Desirae's dress is H&M, jacket is Zara and shoes will be highlighted soon with another look. But until then, just suffice it to know that we LOVE them.

OUR TAKE ON VALENTINO SS '13

So you saw us post about the Valentino Spring 2013 collection here. Now you get to see the look that inspired this post. The actual Valentino blouse is sold here, but we'd rather spend that amount in different areas of life. So we created our own blouse with a white button down, black high neck sheer blouse and black fitted tee underneath. If you're a bit of a seamstress you could always take an old white button down and cut the collar and cuffs. We just liked our blouse and white button down too much to do that to them :(. Anyway, we put it together with our black chiffon skirt (similar here) and called it our Valentino. 

(By the way, there are always nicer, pricier version of items that are similar to ours.  We don't know about you guys,  but we're always looking for a deal. Let us know if you'd like us only to put the nicer stuff, or do you guys even look at the links? Just trying to gauge the quality of what you all would like, because it's really much easier to find the more expensive items.)

SNOW BOOTS - Wearing the UGG Hoka winter boot

When Ugg emailed us about their new boot featuring the Hoka technology (a rolled toe and heel technology) we had to check it out. This is the Celiste boot (you can find the collection and this particular boot here). We decided to go for a little winter hike in them and we must admit they are pretty dang cool. They're surprisingly light for being a pretty hefty boot. By the way, this is not your typical UGG boot, people. These things would get you through some pretty crazy winter weather (including in cities). We're definitely gonna be breaking them out again for the 2013 Sundance Film Festival coming up. We're also so happy with their comfort that we bought another UGG boot that we can't wait to show you guys. So step away from the wellies (not much grip can get crazy in the snow) and get yourself a good winter boot. I'm itching to get these things to Yellowstone in the winter (yep, that's Melody's winter trip for next year). (Also... wishing Desirae was there to tie my scarf. I'm so bad at tying scarves. Also wish it had a bit of color like this.)

OUR HOLIDAY DRESS - Mara Modest Inspiration

All right you lovely people. The Mara Modest dress giveaway is finally ending on Monday. We showed you the Burberry inspiration and now we're showing you that it can actually be your holiday go-to look. We were thinking we should take our own advice and go ahead and put together the outfit we thought up for the Mara dress. Of course we did wonder if you really could take a white and more springy eyelet dress into the winter season. The conclusion is, 'yes,' we think you can. So don't hold back! TWEED JACKET; LEATHER PANTS

Here is what Desirae wore to her baby shower while she was in town. A fairly simple look to put together, with this similar top, similar jacket, and Zara pants (still sold here) throw on a good low heel and your ready to go out looking maternity chic!

WINTER STRIPES

Time to take our stripes into the colder weather. Although this was taken on a warmer day (man our december has been mild) we've been wearing our jackets with thicker sweaters underneath and have been staying totally warm. So take your summer stripes, pair with blazers and ankle booties and you're set! Blazer and jeans are Zara, striped sweater is Forever 21.

LEATHER AND FUR

Let's keep the fur going this week (hehe). Here's a look from our archives, and yet it is still very much on trend. By the way, we're having a hectic week over here so we apologize for the more random posts. We will hopefully be back to our normal selves by Monday. So until then, hope your chrsitmas decorating is going splendidly (ours is not...neither of us have done anything. We are Grinches this year....).

FUR COLLAR

We must warn you, as you saw yesterday with the Derek Lam looks, the fur collar is about to get out of hand on these pages. Melody may be a tiny bit obsessive as of late. We talked about the emergence of the fur collar and "snood" last year, and we're so happy to feature the idea more this year. Wondering where to get something like this? Try here or here. CAMPING AND HIKING WEAR FASHION

About a month ago, Melody, her husband and some family decided to brave the cold and go camping in the mountains. It was 70 degrees in the valley that day which spurred the insanity. Of course in the mountains it was not 70 degrees. At night it was even further from that. So here Melody is the morning after a VERY cold night (to which this little guy up top couldn't take it anymore and had to go home at about 2 a.m.). This is the hair she woke up with, so what you see is what you get. It doesn't look it, but she is wearing 3 layers of thermals under her leggings. Her hiking boots you've heard her talk about before, and have A LOT of wear (they're from REI here). The glasses are a lot of fun and are Quetee (and DEFINITELY hard to find, but perfect for hiking). Never again will we go camping so late in the season, but it was definitely beautiful.
